Maths Week England 2022 - Student Webinar

Age 7 to 14

Maths Week England aims to provide young people in England with a positive image of mathematics, and to contribute in a small way to improving the national attitude towards this vital and beautiful subject.

To celebrate Maths Week England in November 2022, Liz and Charlie led a webinar to introduce some recently-created NRICH tasks:

  • Less is More
  • More Less is More

Primary teachers, you may like to take a look at Dicey Operations in Line as a follow-up task, which focuses on place value too.

Secondary teachers, you may like to work on Unequal Averages with your students, which focuses on inequalities in the context of averages.

Our Live Primary and Live Secondary Problems include the above Less is More and More Less is More tasks, but also our Mathdokus. The 4 by 4 Mathdokus would be a good place to start!

Charlie and Liz also mentioned the NRICH Primary and Secondary Advent Calendars, which will be published on 1 December. To be reminded about these nearer the time, please sign up for our newsletter and/or follow us on Twitter.

The NRICH Project aims to enrich the mathematical experiences of all learners. To support this aim, members of the NRICH team work in a wide range of capacities, including providing professional development for teachers wishing to embed rich mathematical tasks into everyday classroom practice.

NRICH is part of the family of activities in the Millennium Mathematics Project.
